Help with brakes that are soft.

I have problems. The brake pedal was was slowly heading towards the floor when the car was stationary. Master cylinder I was told, so I had the whole unit replaced. Brakes have been bled twince by brake specialists, but the pedal now travels 3-4cm on full pressure and the car no longer stops as well as it used to... I can't lock the brakes at 80km/h. There is also a strong sound of air being displaced when I brake. The problem is more obvious with the engine off, not on. No leaks or anything like that.

Anyone got any other ideas?

Hmmm, i'd try someplace else to get your brakes done maybe, just to see what happens. Or goto a better brake fluid or get brake lines. Unless you got a bad master cycliner (again)???

Btw...this is stuipid but make sure all the lines are tight on the master cycliner and where ever else the lines go from it, check them for tightness. And finally make sure the fluid lid is on tight...stupid yes, but checking never hurt.

ok i had the same thing i think. i would press on the pedal it was soft and the braking power was horrid...well i had new pads and rotors put on the front, and it would still do this...my mechanic just put on back brakes which consisted of drums and shoes and bleed the brakes, and wholy shit, what a difference, bro take off your drums and check out what is going on back there, your wheel cylinders could have gone bad too, which would result in bad braking as well...

Heh... I don't have drums on my 4G - the SiR has rear disks standard

But... I haven't had the rear seals checked since I last had new pads put on and the disks machined, so I'll give the cylinders a check.
